A slat roof is fully exposed to wind and weather. That's why you should clean it thoroughly one to two times a year. Doing so will maintain the colour and also keep the susceptible structural parts free of dust and dirt. It's also good idea to clear away snow, even if the slat roof is able to withstand heavy snow loads. This ensures that everything works flawlessly whenever you need it, and helps to preserve both the functionality and shine of your slat roof.
First, sweep the slats off with a soft brush to remove coarse dirt and grime. Heavy soiling and bird droppings should be soaked with cleaning solution and warm water and then wiped away with a cloth. When doing so, however, be sure to avoid chemical cleaners. These can attack the material and damage your slat roof. Warm water and cleaning solution can also be used on the frame structure. As a final step, you should spray the product down with a garden hose to rinse off any remaining cleaner and prevent residues.
