External sun shading systems not only create the perfect balance of sun and shade – they can also add a stylish flair to your home. Window awnings in particular make a great impact as an external textile screen for shading large window surfaces in terms of design and functionality.

A very special construction project in southern Munich is an example of just how unique the design of external sun shading systems can be. The combination of textile fabric and a unique awning with a large-format print creates the perfect illusion of a natural shadow from surrounding trees on the external facade of a building in a quiet street lined with trees.

An extravagant, perfect example of the possibilities that a tailor-made sun shading solution can bring.

The two-storey house stands at the apex of a semicircular residential street in Munich, which surrounds a green area. The southern facade is enveloped by a 25-metre-long facade made from greyish-green, weatherproof fabric. A digital large-format print creates the impression that the surrounding trees are casting shadows on the house.

The five large windows are aesthetically integrated into the fabric and protected from the sun by the window awnings with easyZIP guidance. The awnings are the same colour as the textile fabric and seamlessly blend to create the shadow image of the trees.

Despite a half-closed screen, enough daylight still reaches the open gallery and work area. And the room temperature remains pleasant

When half-open, the real reflection of the trees completes the printed shadows on the textile facade and awnings so that there are no gaps in the image.

Combined with a ventilation system, external sun shading systems can significantly reduce the cost of cooling – for a perfect combination of functionality and aesthetics.

The window awning creates a harmonious overall appearance while offering reliable and stylish sun shading and privacy from outside. Particularly in the warm summer months, the sun shading system doesn’t just protect against glare; it also helps to keep the rooms pleasantly cool. Avoiding overheating – in combination with a ventilation system – reduces general cooling costs and the need for air conditioning.

The construction project shows how tastefully thermal protection of this kind can not only contribute to personal well-being, but also to energy efficiency and thus climate protection.

The material language of the textile fabric and sun shading products is also found in the spacious interiors. In a space of around 330 square metres, polished screed floors and several curtains in the same colour as the fabric complement the light grey exposed concrete walls. Earthy-toned furniture and stylish ceiling lamps in the living room and dining area on the first floor, an open staircase and walk-in wardrobe perfectly complete the image.

On the first floor, the window awnings regulate daylight and the room temperature in the master and children's bedrooms, bathrooms and in the open gallery and working area.
