A waterproof awning is a common search term, but awnings are not automatically watertight. WAREMA offers weather-resistant sun shading solutions , including selected pergola awnings and patio covers. Suitability for rain and wind depends on the product, fabric, pitch, drainage, installation and operating limits.

Choose weather resistance by product
Selected Perea pergola awnings and Lamaxa slat roofs are designed for different outdoor conditions. Check the model-specific operating limits for wind and rain. -
Controls and weather sensors
Compatible controls can react to configured weather sensor values. Automation does not make a product suitable for operation outside its specified limits. -
Planning and product limits
Wind, rain, snow load, drainage and installation requirements differ by product. The 5-year manufacturer warranty applies according to the current warranty terms.
Different products have different weather characteristics. roller shutters and external venetian blinds are facade systems with model-specific wind limits. Window awnings with selected guidance systems can provide increased wind stability, depending on the product.
Post-supported pergola awning systems may be suitable for defined wind and rain conditions when configured accordingly. patio covers such as the Louvred pergola use a structural roof system; permissible rain and snow conditions depend on the model, dimensions and configuration.
Use external shading within the operating conditions specified for the selected product.
For wind or rain, use only products and configurations approved for those conditions and observe the specified operating limits.
Weather sensors and compatible controls can automate reactions according to configured thresholds. Depending on the product, this can include retracting or repositioning shading. The WAREMA blind control app provides app-based operation for compatible systems. Automation does not override the product’s permissible wind, rain or frost limits.
Selected Lamaxa louvred pergola models use integrated drainage channels to route rainwater. They should not be described as universally waterproof: performance depends on the model, configuration, installation, maintenance and weather intensity. Observe the product-specific limits for rain, snow and other weather conditions.
WAREMA awning fabric options have different material and weather properties. Some fabrics are water-repellent; selected Perea pergola awning configurations use fabrics and drainage concepts intended for defined rain conditions. This is not the same as every awning being waterproof. Fabric suitability, pitch and operating limits depend on the product.
