The safety regulations for escape routes in public buildings are becoming increasingly stringent. These also affect the external sun shading systems. The disruption in a facade's appearance caused by a door lacking a sun shading system would be undesirable for aesthetic reasons. In addition, areas in the vicinity of emergency exits without a sun shading system are often unusable due to the reduced level of comfort. WAREMA external venetian blinds with an auxiliary motor and a battery-operated emergency retraction set solve this problem.
In the event of an emergency, the battery-operated emergency retraction set raises the external venetian blind very quickly – at a speed of around 1 metre/second. The speed of the battery-operated emergency retraction set is designed to meet the specifications for the minimum opening time of automatic door systems as stipulated by DIN 18650-1. This allows glass doors or windows, for example, to be used as emergency routes.
In the event of a power failure, the emergency retraction system can be activated either manually using an emergency push button or automatically by sensors. Once the system has been deployed, it is no longer possible to lower the external venetian blind until the RESET button has been pressed.
WAREMA external venetian blinds with an auxiliary motor and a battery-operated emergency retraction set have an extra battery-operated motor and a specially developed control system. The emergency retraction speed is designed to meet the specifications for the minimum opening time of automatic door systems as stipulated in DIN 18650-1.
The cover panel heights of external venetian blinds with an auxiliary motor and a battery-operated emergency retraction set are identical to those of standard blinds. The mechanism can be activated manually by pressing an emergency push button or automatically by sensors (e.g. smoke detector, door contact, central fire alarm).
When the emergency system is activated, the external venetian blind is locked against activation by a higher-level control system or by the operating element so that a further DOWN command is no longer possible. Also, the control system has a redundant design to ensure the reliable retraction of the blind in an emergency or if a malfunction is detected. Faults like power failures, cable breakage and battery failure are detected by the control when it automatically checks, at regular intervals, the battery level and the drive components for functionality.
In case of malfunction, the control raises the blind and places it out of service until the malfunction has been rectified. The mechanical components are also monitored during an inspection after installation and an annual functional check.
